An air curtain is usually installed above or next to a door or window opening

Air Curtain Filter

The main task of an air curtain filter is to protect the hot water boiler heat exchanger from contamination. Therefore, a fairly coarse air curtain filter can be used to maintain the required air flow rate. The dirty filter should be cleaned or replaced. The frequency of cleaning depends on the environment in which the air curtain is used. In a dusty environment (such as a clothes shop) the filters will need to be cleaned much more frequently than in a clean office environment. For safety reasons, filters should not be used in electric or direct gas heated air curtains for safety reasons, as a dirty filter will reduce the airflow of the appliance, because the resistance in the filter caused by dirt will reduce the airflow and this will cause the temperature inside the air curtain to rise.

How far away from the door should the air curtain be placed?

An air curtain should be installed close enough to the opening to prevent heat loss from cold air entering the room, or outside close to the door for cold room applications. In an ideal installation, there is no horizontal separation between the opening and the air curtain. However, it can be effective if the air curtain separation distance is less than 50 cm.

How high should the air curtain be placed from the door?

Ideally, the air curtain should be installed directly above the opening it is designed to protect. If an air curtain is placed too high above the opening, the result will be one of the following; the air curtain may not be fully efficient or a more powerful unit may be required. Either way, more energy is wasted to create efficiency across the opening. As a general check, a vertical distance of up to 50 cm is acceptable.

Air Curtain Maintenance

A maintenance program is essential to maintain the high performance of the air curtain. The recommended maintenance period may vary depending on the operating environment and product type and is specified in the operating and maintenance instructions. To facilitate the maintenance program, points to be evaluated are indicated in the checklist.
